Family Tours Enjoy  Fireworks

When starting out at U.S. Cellular on Midwest 1 everyone was pumped and ready for the festivities and games to begin.  For an added bonus the White Sox put on a firework show and added some music for a great effect. It was a wonderful display probably one of the best I had ever seen up until that point in my life.  Small Group Tours and Sports PackagesThey had big boomers and small shooting fireworks that lasted for a very long time.  They did a wonderful job timing the fireworks with the music and just did a fantastic job.

On Midwest 2 the next place to give us a firework show was Pittsburgh and I have to say this was my favorite of all times.  Not only did they have a firework show for all their fans, but they had REO Speedwagon come in and play.  All the lights went down in the stadium and off to the right the fireworks started going off.  Then the next thing you know REO Speedwagon is on stage playing in front of you in the infield.  They put on an amazing show and just when we thought it was over the fireworks started again and then back to REO.  This back and forth went on for over an hour.  So, not only did the fans get to see a MLB game but they also got to see a live concert and firework show.  This was one of the best things i have ever seen a stadium do for their fans I was absolutely blown away.

The next night in Cincinnati they had a firework show also.  It was no concert and firework show, but they did an amazing job.  These were some of the biggest boomers that I had ever seen or heard.  They were such a loud boom they made you shake and jump right out of your seat.  Midwest 1 and 2 had many great aspects, but nothing better than fireworks in the summer while enjoying Americas favorite past time.

Midwest 2 Comes To An End

The last stop on our Midwest 2 baseball road trip was Cincinnati home of the Reds.  I personally had been waiting for this stop the whole trip, because the Reds were taking on the St. Louis Cardinals, my personal favorite team.  The way our MLB road trip had been going up to this point I was even more excited, since every stadium we had visited the home team lost.  Group Travel Tours and Family ToursWell, unfortunately for the Reds fans or fortunately for me the Cardinals did win 5-3.  Rick Ankiel put the Cardinals on the board with a two-run homer into right field, close to where I was sitting.  The Great American Ball Park is a nice stadium a sea of red seats you feel like a true Reds fan.  It is a small park, but I liked the smaller feel, you were right next to the players.  However, this does make watching the game a little more dangerous, but if you stay alert and pay attention it is a great feeling to be that close to the field.  This was the end to our Midwest 2 trip and it was a great experience and trip.  I brought my brothers back to the stadium the next night for their first MLB game.  They had a great time there were many great runs and we tried to sit everywhere in the stadium.  Our favorite was on the third baseline towards the top of the stadium, because the sun was beginning to go down and there is a gorgeous view from up there.  If you would like to see official stats from Friday night's game click here or Saturday's game click here.

Package Tours Make A Stop In Pittsburgh

The next stop on our tour was Pittsburgh, PA to see the Pirates take on the Cincinnati Reds.  We were all very impressed with PNC Park it was even nicer than we had heard. I loved Camden Yards and many parks have been based off of its design including PNC Park.  It is very pleasing to the eye, well kept, and fun for all ages.  Baseball Stadium ToursMy only complaint would be when you are in the outfield area it can get a little confusing to where you are supposed to go, but I found my way back to home plate.  This was also such a great experience because we were in the fourth row from the visiting team, Cincinnati Reds, dugout.  This gave us a great view of the players as the came in and out of the dugout and an amazing view of the entire field.  However, being this close to the field along the baseline can be dangerous so we had to be aware at all times.  Unfortunately, just like all the games before the home team lost again.  I don't know if our group being there put a jinx on all the home teams, but the home team lost again.  The Cincinnati Reds took the Pirates for a win 3-1.  We were able to see Chris Dickerson, the rookie of the team, first career RBI in the sixth inning.  To read more about the games or to see official stats please click here.

Baseball Stadium Tours Continues To Cleveland

In Cleveland our guests were able to take a stadium tour of Progressive Field.  Big League Tours Mascot We had a wonderful tour guide who was full of information about the team's history and the field itself.  I was unaware that Progressive Field had a memorial area, Heritage Park, similar to the National Hall of Fame in Cooperstown, NY.  This area commemorates some of Cleveland's finest playeres throughout the years ranging from Shoeless Joe Jackson to Cy Young.  It was great to experience Heritage Park since I am not very knowledgeable of Cleveland's past.  Big League Tours guests were able to experience a suite, batting cages where guests saw Ben Francisco practicing, and dugout seats to just name a few of the big stops.  Unfortunately, Cleveland's winning streak ended to Baltimore on Wednesday August 13th.  The Indian's put up a good fight but in the end could not hold the Orioles who won 6-1.  To see official MLB stats click here.

Baseball Road Trips Through The Crossroads of America

After ending the Midwest 1 trip in Chicago we took a bus over to Detroit to meet the rest of our group for our Midwest 2 MLB road trip.  We stayed in an amazing hotel, just a few blocks away from the stadium, where each guest got to stay in style with their own personal suite.  This was a great way to start the trip and show our guests that we work very hard to give them first class accommodations in every aspect of Big League Tours sports packages.  The Toronto Blue Jays came down to the Tigers Den to take on the Detroit Tigers.  Unfortunately, for the Tigers the the Blue Jays came to play and ended up defeating the Tigers 6-4.  We had the privilege of seeing A.J. Burnett pitch his 15Th win for the Toronto Blue Jays.  He had a rocky first six innings, but his teammates were there to back him up.  They came back with a rally against the Tigers to win the the game.  To check out the official MLB stats please click here.

Package Tours Take It To Wrigley Field

Sunday was the last day of Midwest 1 and what better way to end it with heading Baseball Travel Toursout to Wrigley Field.  This was the game I had personally been looking forward to for the whole MLB road trip.  On this day the Cubs took on the St. Louis Cardinals and being a Cardinals Fan anyone who knows the two teams know they have somewhat of a rivalry.  So, I came to the game decked out in my Cardinals gear ready to see a great game.  Wrigley Field is one of the oldest stadiums left so the atmosphere and the feeling of being there is like no other.  Everyone who comes is ready to have a great time and enjoy some of America's favorite past time.  Unfortunately for me, the Cardinals did not have such a great game, but it was a great to see Ryan Dempster's 13Th win this season.  The Cubs won the game 6-2 and ended up winning the series 2-1.  To see the official stats click here.

Group Travel Tours Make Their Way To See The Brewers

On Saturday the Big League Tours group headed out to Milwaukee for the day to see the Brewers take on the Washington Nationals.  Family Tours-Kid zone at Miller ParkIf you have never been to Miller Park you should definitely put that on your list of things to do.  I'm not sure if I'm really a dome kind of person, but they make up for that in many other ways.  As our group tour made its way to the parking lot our guests were amazed with how many people were in the parking lot tailgating before the game.  Going to Milwaukee a couple of hours before the gates open is a great time everyone is barbecuing, playing yard games, etc. the usual tailgating lineup.  Miller Park is also a great place for family tours to go they have an amazing area for kids to play and burn off some energy before the game.  The Brewers had a perfect game where hey defeated the Nationals 6-0.  Ben Sheets pitched a complete game on Saturday giving the Brewers a lopsided victory.  To check out official scoring please click here.

Big League Tours Offers Sports Packages In the Midwest

Midwest 1 kicked off on Friday August 8th at U.S. Cellular where our guests were able to have a one on one experience with Ron Kittle.  Kittle played left field and designated hitter for the White Sox in 1982-86, 1989, and 1991.  Mlb Tours White Sox World Series GearHe also played for the New York Yankees, Cleveland Indians, and the Baltimore Orioles.  Kittle took the group into the Jim Beam Suite and talked a little ball with everyone.  He told stories from his career as well as his experiences with other players, best moments, and what he's doing now.  Big League Tour guests were able to ask questions of Kittle and just chat with a Major League Player, guests also able to get autographs signed and pitcures taken.  Kittle currently works for the Chicago White Sox, but in his free time he is building benches out of baseball bats and baseballs.  Check out his website and see what he has to offer. After speaking with Kittle we were able to head into the stadium to see the Red Sox take on the White Sox. Buehrle pitched a a great game for the White Sox allowing them to win the game.  Buehrle was impressed with the amount of Red Sox fans that made their way into U.S. Cellular, but he soon quieted them with his impressive pitching.  For official stats of the game please click here.

Big League Tours - Big Apple 2
Group Travel Tours
After seeing the Old Timers Day fans and players were ready for some great baseball and the Yankees did just that.  After losing the two games before the Los Angeles Angels the Yankees were ready to take on the Angels again today.  Our Big League Tour Guests were not disapointed with the performance of the players today.  Mussina pitching for the Yankees was in high spirits after experiencing the Old Timers Day, he even hiked up his pants to celebrate the years passed.  Mussina's performance helped the Yankees lead the Angels 8-2 breaking there losing streak in this weekend series. Giving the fans something to cheer about Alex Rodriguez, Wilson Betemit, and Bobby Abreu all hit homeruns to make the game even more exciting.  It was a fun and exciting day out at Yankee Stadium for our group tour.

Big League Tours attends Old Timers Day

Big League Tours tries to find important aspects to include in each tour to give our guests the ultimate baseball vacation experience while on our escorted tours. Sports VacationsSo, we chose for our Big Apple 2 trip a weekend that had something exciting going on at the stadium "Old Timers Day".  Since this is the last year at Yankee Stadium it was a touching day for not only Yankee fans but all baseball fans alike.  The Yankees invited back some of their former players to the stadium to thank them and congratulate them on all their success as Yankees and in their life.  They had players from all different era's come back to the stadium including Reggie Jackson, Yogi Berra, Dave Winfield, and Rickey Henderson to only name a few. It was exciting and touching to see all these greats in one place to celebrate them and the ending of an era at Yankee Stadium.  After announcing all the attendees the Yanks that were able to play participated in a few innings against each other.  Allowing Big League Tour guests to see some of the best players from Yankee Stadium play.  Although, some of them were a little rusty it was a once in a lifetime opportunity and we were all glad to be there.

Big Apple 2 Group Tours

Group Travel ToursThis was our last group tour to New York for the season and it was a bittersweet one at that for all the Yankees Fans.  For our first game we went to Yankee Stadium on Friday, August 1 to see the Los Angeles Angels take on the New York Yankees. It was an extrmely close game until the end where the score was zero to zero unti he 9th inning.  Then in the 9th when Torii Hunter of the Angels came up to bat against the Yankees closer Mariano Rivera staring each other down Hunter put his wooden bat to the ball and sent it out into center field.  Hunter accomplished what no other player on either team was able to do the entire game hitting a nice single RBI sending one of his fellow teammates on their way home allowing the Los Angeles Angels to win the game in the last inning Angels 1, Yankees 0.

Big League Tours and the Traveling Gnome

We recently went on our East Coast 2 trip.  Our guests were able to attend six stadiums in seven days giving them the ultimate MLB road trip. They were able to attend games at each stadium and even take stadium tours of some.  On this trip we were all able to meet one young lady who in my opinion had a great idea.  She owns a traveling gnome by the name of Gnigil who she takes on all her trips and anything exciting she does.  I thought this was a great idea for Big League Tours to incorporate in our baseball trips.  So, we have recently just purchased our own traveling gnome who will be joining us on his first Big League Tours trip in New York for the Big Apple 2 trip.

Please stay tuned for some pictures of our new mascot.

Baseball vacation packages at their longest and finest!

June 30, 2008--I just got back from the longest trip that Big League Tours offered this summer.  We accomplished a groundbreaking six stadiums in six days out on the east coast.  We started out in Baltimore where we saw the Orioles beat the Astros 7 to 5. We then took a stadium tour of Camden Yards.  This is by far my favorite park to this date.  It is the most sense pleasing park I have been to so far.  Now when I say sense pleasing it is not only eye pleasing but smell, touch, and the sound of the park are all spectacular.  If you ever have the opportunity to go I highly recommend it!
Next, we took off to Washington D.C. where we saw the Texas Rangers VS the Washington Nationals.  In this 14 inning stretch the Nationals finally accomplished what they had set out to do they beat the Rangers 4 to 3. Next stop on our baseball trip was a quick stop in Philadelphia to see them take on the Los Angeles Angels. Angels definitely flew into play and the Phillies just could not hold them off and lost the game 2 to 6.
As our baseball trip was way under way we headed to New York to see the Yankees and the Mets play.  Yankees turned out on top when they played the Red's in the rain delayed day game.  However, the Mets as lucky Felix Hernandez had a great and bad game all in one.  He went up to bat in the second inning and hit a grand slam becoming the first American League pitcher since 1971!  Then in the fifth inning there was a play made at home and Felix was taken out by the runner.  He tried to pitch again but you could see him wince in pain as he put weight on his left leg he was then taken out of the game.
Our last stop was Boston where we met up with Dick Drago a pitcher who played for the Red Sox in the 70's.  We got to hear some great stories from him and it's always great fun to have them reminisce with all of us. Then we got to see the Diamondbacks take on the Red Sox where the Sox beat the Diamondbacks in a nail biting close game. For part of the game we were able to stand on top of the green monster.  It was amazing! Unfortunately we didn't have any grand slams when we were up there, but it was still a once in a lifetime opportunity.  This was a long and packed trip but it was one of the best baseball road trips I have been on so far. I can't wait till next year...

Sports traveling fans get a blast of baseball history!

June 6, 2008- The next stop on our trip was Cooperstown, NY.  This peaceful and beautiful little town is home to the National Baseball Hall of Fame.  When arriving into Cooperstown we were dropped off at our Bed and Breakfast and the group was able to site see on their own.  As most people that have been to Cooperstown in June, July, or August know that it can be a little more congested with all the group tours, but it always should be at the top of your list.  There is something for all groups and ages at the Hall of Fame.  Whether you are wanting to learn more history of the game, see the memorabilia, or get a little bit of everything the Hall of Fame has it. I liked many aspects of the Hall of Fame but being an art lover I liked being able to see different pieces of art depicting a certain memory in baseball.  Whether it was an abstract piece depicting a player hitting a grand slam or multiple paintings of fans in their favorite baseball stadiums. It was a great experience and I can't wait to go back!

Baseball road trip begins with a swing and a miss!

June 5, 2008- Boston Red Sox VS Tampa Bay Rays

This was a game that every major MLB Tours group should have been at! It was probably the most exciting game that I have ever been to in my life.  We knew that there had been a run in the night before with Coco Crisp’s controversial slide into second base and were expecting some type of payback.  What we weren’t expecting was for it to happen so early in the game! James Shield was the starting pitcher for the Rays and Coco came up to bat in the second inning and was hit by the pitch in the thigh.  At first it appeared that Coco was just going to go to first base.  However, that was not the case Coco through his gear down and charged the pitcher’s mound. Starting an uproar in the crowd and on the field he was outnumbered to begin with but soon each team was on the field including the bullpen!  After the fight was broke up both Coco and Shield were ejected from the game. This was a great beginning to our MLB road trip!

How many stadium tours take you on the Green Monstah!?

Thursday, June 5- East Coast 1 started off in Boston, MA where some of the guests arrived a day early and some arrived on the day of the game.  We began our baseball trip by taking an escorted tour of Fenway Park. Bill “Spaceman” Lee and his wife Diana joined us on our tour as well.  Allowing guests to speak with him have pictures taken, get autographs signed, and hear some stories from when he played for the Boston Red Sox.

It was a cold misty day in Boston, but we got to see a lot of the stadium and were given a lot of information about the park.  We got to go to many parts of the stadium, but my favorite was the Green Monster.  It was a great view of the entire stadium and a once in a lifetime opportunity. If you can ever get the opportunity to take any type of stadium tours in Fenway take the opportunity!
